A vacancy exists for a Utility Person/Driver position with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit.
Qualifications:
- No educational prerequisite.
- Knowledge of the use of hand tools.
- Must be able to read and interpret directions.
- Knowledge of routine vehicle maintenance.
- Must be able to lift and carry 45lbs for short periods.
- Must be eligible for bonding.
- Ability to perform routine tasks repeatedly to the satisfaction of the immediate supervisor.
- Ability to work as a member of a team. Must be courteous and able to interact well with others.
- Ability to follow simple directions, ability to follow through to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision, ability to schedule time to meet deadlines, and ability to read schedule and labels.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license – safe driving record without major traffic violations.
- Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, sort, and load materials into van for the day's delivery.
- Deliver and pick up supplies, materials, equipment.
- Perform minor repairs, assemble furniture, and classroom materials.
- Maintain a count of materials delivered and received.
- Manage routine maintenance of vans: gas, oil, inspections, and repairs. Participate in the development of the delivery schedule and routes.
- Log daily information on appropriate forms.
- Coordinate the occasional relocation of classrooms. Involves moving of furniture, equipment and supplies.
- Organize and schedule Ei and Head Start deliveries of teacher materials and small furniture.
- Serve as back-up to other staff members and help them with tasks when deadlines require.
- Project a positive image of the IU and its programs and services.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or the Director of Student Services.
Estimated Work Days and Hours:
Monday-Friday, 20 hours/week, 180 days
