Description | A vacancy exists for a Facilities Maintenance/Handyman for the PaTTAN-East Office through the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. The Facilities Maintenance/Handyman cleans the facilities, cares for surrounding grounds, and sets up meeting rooms.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Certification in building trades, electrical, or plumbing
- 5-7 years' related experience preferred
- Ability to independently operate equipment such as floor sweeper, waxer, lawn mower, and snow blower, power tools
- Ability to work independently and make work-related decisions and exercise good judgement in prioritizing tasks
- Valid driver's license, safe driving record without major traffic violations
- Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clean building (offices, meeting rooms, lavatories, reception area, and closets) according to the task calendar. Cleaning will include: vacuuming; wet and dry mopping floors; dusting; scrubbing lavatories; disinfecting furniture, walls, and floors; and washing windows.
- Empty trash cans on daily basis and place trash in appropriate container per the recycling procedures and resupply rooms as needed.
- Move furniture and equipment as needed.
- Set-up meeting rooms as directed by Assistant Director. Set-up includes arrangement of furniture. After the meeting, return all furniture and supplies to default setup so that meeting rooms are always neat and orderly.
- Sweep and clean walkways, and ensure that outside premises and building entrances are clean and neat.
- Shovel snow and salt walkways as needed.
- Assemble, repair and install equipment as assigned. When necessary, shampoo rugs; scrub walls, windows and desks.
- Paint indoors and outdoors as necessary.
- Respond to emergency requests needed in the building (e.g. leaky faucet).
- Do routine repairs.
- Open/close facility and monitor alarm operations. Answer emergency calls due to alarm activation as necessary.
- Program, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC and pneumatic control systems.
- Install, maintain, and repair all electrical power and lighting systems in facility and NPSS facilities per National Electrical Code.
- Install, maintain, and repair all plumbing and fixtures in the facility per National Plumbing Code.
- Conduct building repairs.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
- Project a positive image of the IU and its programs and services.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director.
Salary:
$43,300-$60,700 (pro-rated)
