Description

The Competent Learner Model Coach assists the teacher to carry out the appropriate educational program for the students assigned to the special education program. The assignment of day-to day activities will be the responsibility of the classroom teacher.

 

Qualifications:

    1. Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    2. Must be knowledgeable and experienced in the implementation of the principles of applied behavior analysis; experience taking student data; experience utilizing direct-instruction programs, and experience using online learning systems.
    3. Must appropriately handle confidential information, enjoy working with disabled children, establish and maintain a rapport with students, and able to understand the needs and feelings of students
    4. Visual acuity to read whiteboard, student work, and printed materials
    5. Auditory acuity to hear spoken, ability to speak clearly and distinctly
    6. Ability to work as a member of a team, be courteous and able to deal effectively with people, able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
    7. Must be able to cope with needs and behavior patterns of children, able to withstand emotional stress, must have a warm, friendly, helpful personality
    8. Ability to follow written and verbal directions, ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision, ability to read, write, and do simple computation
    9. Ability to work independently and make work-related decisions and exercise good judgement with student interaction
    10. Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI

Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Implementation of the principles of applied behavior analysis and taking of student data.
    2. Utilize direct-instruction programs and online learning systems.
    3. Take teacher direction, support student behavior by proactively responding to behavior, implementing behavior plans as directed, etc.
    4. Communicate effectively with students, professionals, parents, supervisors, administrators and school district personnel.
    5. Interact positively with students, professionals, parents, supervisors, administrators and school district personnel.
    6. Assist teacher with the preparation of daily lesson assignments, including the preparation of materials, data collection books for each student and other activities deemed appropriate to meet the needs of the students.
    7. Assist the teacher with the organization of the classroom, and the preparation of materials and bulletin boards which may include the lifting and manipulation of books or materials.
    8. Assist teacher with individual and group instruction by implementing activities designed by the teacher.
    9. Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned by the classroom teacher.
    10. Present a positive image of the Intermediate Unit, its programs and services.
    11. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Salary: $14/hr - $16.50/hr
