A vacancy exists for a Facilities Maintenance Technician for the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in the Office of Business Services. The Facilities Maintenance Technician cleans the facilities, cares for surrounding grounds, and sets up meeting rooms.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Must have appropriate certification per specific functions required for the position
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years with increasing responsibilities
  3. Expertise (includes one or more of the following):
    1. Specialized skills in area to be able to work autonomously as proven through work experience.
    2. Very professional approach to their work that includes very strong customer service skills.
  4. Ability to independently operate equipment such as floor sweeper, auto scrubber, buffer, lawn mower, and snow blower
  5. Ability to drive lift-gate truck
  6. Ability to work independently and make work-related decisions and exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks
  7. Valid driver's license, safe driving record without major traffic violations
  8. Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Clean building (offices, meeting rooms, classrooms, lavatories, reception area, and closets). Cleaning will include: vacuuming; wet and dry mopping floors; dusting; scrubbing lavatories; disinfecting furniture, walls, and floors in IU owned and operated buildings; and washing windows.
  2. Empty trash cans on daily basis and place trash in appropriate container per the recycling procedures and resupply rooms as needed.
  3. Move furniture and equipment as needed.
  4. Mow and trim grass, sweep and clean walkways, and ensure that outside premises and building entrances are clean and neat.
  5. Plow and shovel snow and salt parking lot as needed.
  6. Assemble, repair and install instructional and non-instructional equipment as assigned.
  7. Strip and re-wax floors; shampoo rugs; scrub walls, windows and desks as assigned.
  8. Paint indoors and outdoors as necessary.
  9. Respond to emergency requests from staff in NPSS trailers as assigned.
  10. Do routine repairs of NPSS trailers as assigned.
  11. Open/close facility and monitor alarm operations. Answer emergency calls due to alarm activation as necessary.
  12. Program, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC and pneumatic control systems.
  13. Install, maintain, and repair all electrical power and lighting systems in facility and NPSS facilities per National Electrical Safety Code.
  14. Install, maintain, and repair all plumbing and fixtures in the facility per National Standard Plumbing Code.
  15. Conduct building repairs including but not limited to building furniture, constructing office walls and ceilings, hanging doors, finishing drywall, installing windows, maintaining and repairing roofs, and installing flooring.
  16. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
  17. Assist in monitoring and training summer maintenance employees.
  18. Assist with scheduling routine maintenance for maintenance operated vehicles.
  19. Project a positive image of the IU and its programs and services.
  20. Serve as a back-up to other staff members and help them with tasks when deadlines require.
  21. Perform other related duties as assigned by program administrator/maintenance Forman for facilities.

Salary:

$52,000-$71,000 (pro-rated)
